The Report’s Conclusion begins:
Approximately 40% of today’s high school students and young adults experienced obesity or overweight before leaving primary school. Young people who were born in the 2000s experienced obesity incidence at even higher levels, at younger ages, and at higher severity during the developmentally important stages of childhood, compared even with the cohort 12 years earlier; this was despite the fact that they were exposed to more intensive efforts to prevent obesity than had earlier cohorts. These data have several implications for policies and prevention. First, they point to hitherto insufficient knowledge about susceptibility to childhood obesity to make substantial progress in obesity prevention.
